Steph (addressing you personally because I know you will read this eventually)...I totally realized after watching a few minutes of this movie, that I had already watched it a few years back. But thank you SO much for reminding me to watch it, because I loved it even more this time. So yes...folks, this is a repeat viewing and a borderline cheat! Ah....Camp. I loved Camp. A wonderful little movie about a performing arts/drama summer camp. I can't put into words how much love I had for this movie. This sweet bunch of kids that have a hard time "fitting in" in their home lives, but feel at home or like family at this summer camp. The music was great, the kids were adorable, sweet and honest. I think I need to own this movie so I can watch it again and again (and not just keep it on my Netflix queue forever) just the fact that these kids squeal with joy over a surprise visit from Stephen Sondheim brought a tear to my eye. I would so love to have had a place like that to go. Where the sports counselor plays by himself because everyone else is off singing, or dancing....thats the camp for me! My only summer camp experience was so dreadful that I blocked a lot of it out. This however, is a camp where everyone fits in. Where being different is a good thing. I love movies about kids that actually feels like these could be kids that you know, and not some cookie cutter teen comedy that doesn't feel at all real. This was touching without being preachy and cheesy. It made me want to spend the rest of the week watching musicals. Great, great stuff.
