Groundhog Day (1993)

Okay...this is clearly a cheat. I mean, who hasn't seen Groundhog Day, raise your hand...? This has always been one of my favorites. It may not be the best movie ever made, but it was a fresh storyline. Just in case you haven't seen it....Bill Murray plays Phil, a cranky weatherman that has to cover the Groundhog Day festival in a small town called Punxsutawney. He arrives there with his camera guy (Chris Elliott) and his producer (my not so favorite girl Andie McDowell) and gets stranded there overnight during a blizzard. He awakens to find he is living the same day over again. I have always loved Bill Murray, funny and serious. I think he is great. Of course, this is also the movie that has forever burned "Needle Nose Ned" in my brain...Poor Stephan Toblowsky, no matter how many things I have seen him in, I always think to myself....oh look! Its Needle Nose Ned!! This movie was funny and sweet and creative. Of course its a little cheesy and a little dated (I thought it was even older than the early 90's) but it still holds up. I forced Ian to watch it with me, and he actually enjoyed it as well. He had to ruin it a little for me when he told me that Zach and Cody had an episode similar to this....but it was nice to watch one of my movies with him and he actually enjoyed it and didn't get bored. The perfect movie to watch on Groundhog Day of course. It never gets old :)
